Product Description
The HCI Fitness PhysioStep HXT Compact Recumbent Elliptical Cross Trainer is a compact seated total-body cardio machine designed around a smooth semi-elliptical stepping motion, adjustable upper-body handles, a supportive reclining seat and electronically controlled magnetic resistance.
This listing is specifically for the PhysioStep HXT, manufacturer SKU HXT, and should not be mixed with PhysioStep LXT, MDX, CardioStep or other HCI recumbent cross-trainer configurations.
The HXT uses an 8-inch semi-elliptical stride designed to keep leg extension relatively compact while creating a smooth continuous stepping pattern. The lower-body motion works together with connected upper-body arms, allowing the machine to provide coordinated arm-and-leg exercise from a stable recumbent position.
The pedals incorporate heel cups and ergonomic straps to help keep the user’s feet positioned during the stepping motion. Combined with the low-entry step-through frame, this creates a more accessible seated layout than many traditional standing elliptical machines.
Upper-body exercise is provided through HCI’s fully adjustable rotating handles. A quick-release mechanism allows the handle angle to be repositioned and locked according to the user’s preferred hand and arm position. The HXT also uses a relatively short arm movement compared with larger cross trainers.
Resistance is produced by a smooth magnetic resistance system with 16 electronically controlled levels. Lower settings allow light-effort sessions, while higher resistance settings provide progressively greater training load.
The machine’s backlit LCD console provides real-time workout feedback and direct access to 17 preset/programmed training modes plus QuickStart. The display tracks speed, time, distance, pulse, RPM, calories, watts and the selected resistance level.
The 17 programs include Manual, Rolling, Valley, Fat Burn, Ramp, Mountain, Intervals, Body Fat, Target Heart Rate, three heart-rate-control percentage programs, Watt Control and four custom programs. This provides both straightforward manual operation and more structured workout programming.
Heart-rate monitoring is built into the seat-side handles through contact pulse sensors. The console also includes heart-rate-oriented workout programs, allowing pulse information to be incorporated into supported training modes.
A major feature of the HXT is its 20-inch-wide padded seat. The seat position adjusts along the frame to accommodate different user heights, while the seat back offers three reclining positions for additional positioning flexibility. HCI specifies a user-height range of approximately 4’9″ to 6’2″.
The machine supports users weighing up to 330 lb and measures approximately 58 inches long × 23 inches wide × 49 inches high. At 165 lb, it is substantially more compact than many larger rehabilitation-oriented recumbent cross trainers in HCI’s lineup.
Power is supplied through an AC connection to a standard wall outlet. HCI also equips the HXT with an energy-saving function that automatically shuts the machine down after approximately five minutes of inactivity.
The HXT is designed for home and light-commercial use, rather than being restricted solely to a residential environment. HCI positions the machine as a compact total-body cardio platform suitable for a range of fitness and supported exercise environments.
Its combination of seated positioning, short semi-elliptical stride, adjustable handles, magnetic resistance, programmable console and relatively small footprint makes the PhysioStep HXT a versatile choice for users who want a compact recumbent cross trainer rather than a conventional upright elliptical.
